Backyard Games Bring Families Together

By: Lincoln Roth

Playing backyard games is one of the many things that can be done in order to bring families together. Most people turn to watching television or playing video games today, but there is much more available to people than that. Since this is the case, a lot of families are moving toward doing more together and turning off the video games and the TV. When the weather is bad there are many board and card games that can be played. For nice weather, though, there are a lot of options for ways to bring people together. One of these is the Cornhole game. While the difference in name is not really significant for most people, some do call it the bean bag toss or the bean bag game. The game is still the same regardless of what people call it. There are still a few disagreements about where it got its start and the board is also a slightly different size, but most people who play if for fun do not care about this. They only want to enjoy the game with their family and friends.

For a person who knows how to play the game this can easily be done. Fortunately, playing the game is very easy and not physically demanding at all. This being the case, someone who is interested in playing the game can quickly learn it. From very young children to the elderly, everyone can play the Cornhole game. To play, soft cloth bags are tossed at a hole in a board, and the bags are filled with dried corn, dried beans, or plastic pellets. These bags are worth points if they go through the hole, and are worth fewer points if they land on the board and remain there. Bags do not score any points if they do not hit the board or if they fall off of the board. These bags are soft and lightweight and they are easy to toss, even if one is not physically strong. The board is also lightweight, and there is a smaller version of it that will fit in the trunk of a larger car, making it very portable.

Because the game is easy to take along, store, and play, it is often taken from one backyard to another one when families get together. Not only is this enjoyable, but it can make it easy to accumulate Cornhole sets at a house where people are gathering. When individuals all get together to play the Cornhole game they can enjoy it for hours on a nice day, and it can be the centerpiece of a good backyard barbecue. People from all walks of life and all income levels can enjoy the hours of fun and enjoyment that the Cornhole game gives them, along with the fellowship and food. More people play it in northern sections of the country, but people in the west and in the south are starting to become interested in the game as well.

Dave Roth runs a site that sells cornhole games. In addition to free building dimensions and rules, the site also carries discount weather resistant bags and boards.
