Birmingham is the second largest city in britain and it's a very modern location with lively nightlife and some great shopping opportunities. Birmingham is located in the county of the west midlands and, according to a estimate from 2006, it has a population of 1,006,500.

People that are from birmingham are often called 'Brummies', due to the city's nickname of Brum. this name comes from the city's dialect name, Brummagem, which is originated from one of the city's earlier names, 'Bromwicham'. there is a distinct Brummie accent, which is characteristic of people from this city.

Birmingham is well known as a national commercial centre & it has been declared the third best place in england to locate a business, & the 21st best in Europe by a 2007 cushman and wakefield report. as well as this, it is also the fourth most visited city by overseas visitors in england.

One of the best things about Birmingham has to be its great museums, galleries and attractions that are lively & insightful for all the family. one of our favouritesis Dudley Zoo, which is in the grounds of dudley castle & boasts some great animals who live in over forty acres of pretty gardens.

Some of our other favourite places include the sarehole mill, selly manor & selly manor.

As you probably already know, brum is home to the Bullring shopping centre, which ensures it is the perfect city for fans of shopping to visit. indeed, the Bullring has over 110,000 square feet of retail space, which has some fantastic shops including schuh, samsonite, and ann summers.

On the other hand, there are plenty of shops in the city centre, too. you'll find some number one shops situated on the high street, as well as a handful of superb independent shops in The Custard Factory, which is located in the old birds custard factory.

With quaint public houses, vip bars and wonderful clubs, birmingham has everything you require for a wonderful night out. fans of trance music will be pleased to find plenty of huge trance clubs, whereas fans of rock and indie bands will be pleased to discover that the city has numerous live music venues that hold regular concerts, as well as clubs that play the best bits rock tunes.
