The agave plant has its origins in the Americas, but in the present over fifty percent of the sisal production comes from East Africa. The reason is that the African fiber is longer, finer and white, qualities that make the fiber dye clear, even colors. It also helps the yarn become consistent and smooth.

Most of the sisal weaves imported by the rug producers come from Kenya and Tanzania and dyed, spun and woven in Belgium. This is considered the best sisal in the world. Other sisal weaves come from Brazil and Mexico. It only brigs variety and gives the customer options.

Sea-grass rugs are made out of flowering plants found in the marine environment and fully saline waters. It also comes from fibers of long reed-like grasses growing in the wet areas of South Asia. The sea-grass weave is a resistant fabric with a neutral color aspect, due to the light-brown and beige hues with a green tinge. They are smooth to the touch and have a natural sheen
