Ways To Make Your Barbecue Better

By: Lincoln Roth

At barbecues and family get-togethers there are a lot of things to do. Naturally there is a lot of good food and people are going to want to eat and drink. Many people also play games at these occasions. You might even play them, too. You might want to consider the bean bag game if you don't play games at your barbecues because you aren't sure what everyone will enjoy. Some people call it the bean bag toss. It's also been called the Cornhole game. It got that name because the original bags were filled with dried corn. Dried beans were also popular for a bag-filling material. Most of the modern ones are filled with plastic pellets. When they get wet, beans and corn can swell and milew. Plastic doesn't have that problem. People generally buy their bean bag games. However, if they really want to, they can make one. One of the reasons that making this game can be so enjoyable is because friends and family can do it together. Something that people have made with their own hands often has a lot more meaning that something that they bought.

Because everyone can participate in the bean bag game, you can spend a lot of time laughing and joking with people at your barbecue. Frisbee, horseshoes, badminton, and other similar games are often too demanding for elderly people. Being too small and not yet athletic enough, young children also have trouble playing them. That can make young children cranky and elderly people feel left-out. AThe bean bag game avoids these kinds of problems because it can be played and enjoyed by everyone. The simplicity of the game is part of why so many people like it and why it's so very popular at get-togethers of all kinds. Tailgating parties, birthday parties, and barbecues are all included in this. Many college kids play it because they can carry the board around so easily in the bed of their truck or the trunk of their car. Most larger car trunks will accommodate the two foot by four foot board. People who really love the game almost always have it available to them and the friends and family members that they get together with.

There are very simple rules if you want to incorporate the bean bag game into your next barbecue. Players toss the bean bags one at a time at the game board, which has a hole in it. You get points for bags which land on the game board and remain there. Bags that go in the hole are worth more points. There are no points awarded for bags that miss the board or that fall off. The first person or team to reach twenty-one points wins the game. Really, though, the bean bag toss is not about competition. It's actually about just having fun together.
